Leadership for the Future

Woodbadgers! Have you recruited a leader to attend this year's course?

WOODBADGE FORMS AVAILABLE
 Woodbadge Student Application

 Health & Medical Record (Colorado)

Become the kind of leader that our youth will remember.…all their lives Wood Badge is an advanced adult training opportunity for ALL Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Venturing leaders. As a participant in this course, you will work with others to learn and practice leadership skills as a member of a successful working team and live the values of Scouting.

Wood Badge for the 21st Century is the ultimate leadership training experience for adult scout leaders. Although the course is conducted in outdoor surroundings, the focus is on the application of LEADERSHIP SKILLS. These skills are conveyed through active learning sessions in an ideal Scout environment.

One of the unique features of this course is the application of the skills you will learn. You will be able to use these lessons and experiences from Wood Badge outside of Scouting to make every team a successful team, whether the team is at your work place or is your family.

Inspired in England by Lord Baden Powell at Gilwell Park, Wood Badge is today offered around the world. Upon completion of the course and the achievement of goals set during the course, a Scouter receives a certificate and Wood Badge beads, and becomes a permanent member of Troop 1, Gilwell.

 Schedule and Location

Wood Badge for the 21st Century will be conducted during two three-day sessions:

·        Friday – Sunday, July 31 to Aug 2, 2009                Friday – Sunday, Aug 21-22-23, 2009

The course will start at 7:30 a.m. on Friday and end about 5:00 p.m. on Sunday for both sessions.

The course will be held at the San Isabel Scout Ranch. Detailed instructions, directions to camp, personal equipment list and other information will be sent to each participant when the registration form is received.

The fee for the course is $210. This fee provides for all instruction materials, food, special equipment. A deposit of $50 is due with your registration. Full payment must be made by June 30, 2009.

Wood Badge for the 21st Century

In 1911, Baden Powell took the first steps in training Scouting’s adult leaders by organizing a series of lectures. His training lectures evolved and became the basis of the first Wood Badge course in 1919.

Wood Badge for the 21st Century is a continuation of the Wood Badge tradition. This course draws from the best leadership models in America and applies them to training our youth. You will have the opportunity to live the magic of Scout leadership training as envisioned by the founder of Scouting.

Wood Badge consists of two phases. The first is the practical phase consisting of two three day weekends at camp, plus one mid-week small group meeting between the weekends. The second phase is the application phase, which begins after the second weekend and consists of achieving a set of self-defined, personal goals written during the course. A key area of the practical phase revolves around team development and learning to recognize stages through which developing teams must pass. You will learn how to apply appropriate leadership strategies to that enable teams to reach peak performance.

Wood Badge provides leaders the skills they need to strengthen Scouting in meaningful ways and deliver a quality program to our youth.
